Bonus
One thing from the start.
I am aware, that some of the bonus are a little bit hard to discern. Nonetheless – the bonus are the size they are supposed to be – and that will not change.
You will discover, that if you play on a real vectrex a few games – you can very well see the differences quickly enough – I know I played many, many games.
Even if you can not see every vector clearly – the graphics are sufficently different from each other, that you will very fast LEARN which bonus does what.
Collectable bonus
At the time of writing 40 different bonus items can be collected from enemies or the shop. The bonus can be divided into different categories:
Enhancements
These bonus enhance the playership in some way, all of these bonus are surrounded by a circle (oh, well – vectrex – its actually a octagon).
The shot 1 and shot 2 – depending on the stage of the game might at some stage be viewed as a deterioration though.
These enhancements again come in 3 different flavors:
– permanent (faster shot, more bullets etc)
– time bases (shield, scoop, double score…)
– immediate (bombs)
Malus
These bonus deteriorate the playership in some way, all of these bonus are surrounded by a triangle
Money
These give the player money to use in the shop, all of these bonus are surrounded by a rectangle
Letters
Letters can be collected to form the word “EXTRA”, which gives you one additional weapon level.
All of these bonus are surrounded by a “3d-” square.
