Spectator@Chris: I want to encourage you too! Vectorblade is Great and believe me: thanks to your creativity, your perseverance and all the support of your friends here, you will succeed! 👍🏻😊

SpectatorI played the last beta version yesterday night (400 levels).
My first feedback : nice job and no crash for me! 😊; the action is “sharp” and the pleasure to play is there!
3 little details: now in the “easy mode” it seems we can get the “extra life” bonus. Normal?
In my opinion, using the “4 shots” against the first boss seems more difficult than before (and more than the “3 shots” paradoxically)
It would be nice to disable the button 3 when we shot the ennemies (button 4): pushing the 2 buttons at the same time modifies the display. It is not really a problem because there is no reason to push them at the same time, but it would be “cleaner”.
@Chris, @Peer and all: Happy Easter and thank you for your brilliant ideas and hard work on Vectorblade!

SpectatorDownloaded (VF version)!

SpectatorHi,
Just a little information about the circumstances of the 2 crashes i experienced today with the VB beta 44 VF version. I wanted to play it as a “normal” version to test it. I got the first crash (fastly) picking up the “Minestorm” bonus at the end of a level (all ennemies were killed). There were numerous bonuses to collect at the same time.
I did not get a message after the crash, just the black screen and and a continuous buzz.
the second crash occured in similar circumstances at the end of the level 42 collecting several bonuses at the same time, moving the ship from the left corner to the right side of the screen.
I was surprised to get 2 crashes in less than 30 minutes with similar conditions. The crashes i got before were very rare. I will try to reproduce it again and i will let you know.
(PS: i played the normal mode and the hard mode)

SpectatorHi!
@Chris:
If I can help, I am here 😉
Of course, I would be happy to test the “insensitive” version (intensely)!

Hi Peer! I do not know if it can help, but I got the crash with the Malban’s eprom and with the VecFever MK II too…
Jerome Vince
SpectatorI do not know if it is possible, but we have to identify what is the oldest beta version where this crash randomly appeared for the first time and compare the differences with the previous version. Also we have to intensely test this last known version without a crash (to be sure) and so on if a crash occurs.

Spectator@Chris. Thank you for your analysis and your explanations about the calibration. Now i understand the technical difficulties we can find if we want to modify the screen position.
About the bankswitching and your hypothesis to solve the problem : I would be happy to test your next version 🙂
@Peer : Thank you ! I am delighted to have participated in the latest developments of Vec-Man! 😉 : it is an extraordinary game on the Vectrex!Jerome Vince
Spectator<p style=”text-align: right;”>Hi!</p>
just a few words of introduction for those who don’t know me: i am a Vectrex fan since 1983 when i got it for Christmas! and i want to say that thanks to all of you it is always Christmas today !
I live in the south of France.
be indulgent with me for my english. I try to improve it.@Helmut: thank you for kind welcome message!
About Vectorblade, i played the Beta 40 (VF) and beta 41 version.
Thanks to Christopher I am happy to be with you to test this great game and share ideas to improve some points.
I also want to warmly thank Christopher for having corrected little bugs and integrated some suggestions into the game in its last development.
My last suggestion: a modification of the calibration settings; the idea would not (only) to modify the size but to move the screen in each direction (as it is the case on the excellent VecFever emulator). In my opinion this calibration can be useful, when the Vectrex screen is not perfectly centered (old/”capricious” Vectrex). We have to keep in mind that some of the Vectrex fans never opened their Vectrex to modify the display settings with a screwdriver. May be they do not want (or do not know how) to do it. The consequences of a poorly adjusted screen are can be visible on Vectorblade. My own situation (without a litlle calibration): when the bonus fall down on the extreme right side of the screen it is impossible to collect them. Frustrating 😉.
About the crashes:
Very rarely i experienced crashes: 2 with the beta 40 and 3 with the beta 41. Always the same symptoms: black screen and buzz. ( for 3 of them: i got a crash playing the level 39 (easy mode) the level 117 and the 121 (“normal mode” after the “easy mode”). I did not find a real common point between the crashes. The only thing and Chris explained this very well: the crash appears rarely and without any obvious reason.About the beta 44: i will test it again and again this week.

SpectatorHi Peer!! 😊 Thank You !!
I confirm all the results above on my buzz Vectrex : 3 hours today and no crash!
Jerome Vince
SpectatorMay be Yes. After 9 hours (demo mode; VF version ) the game works fine for me! 🙂
Jerome Vince
