    With every issue that I find and post I’m back and forth whether I should post it in an individual posts or post then in this “personal” topic.

    Beta 28

    No Sniper > 100%
    Currently, with double or triple shots you can get a hit rate > 100%. My impression is that once you die and you have a hit rate > 100 % you don’t get any sniper rewards.
    Sugestions: Sniper rewards should be rewarded even with a percentage higher than 100%.

    Sniper achievements: One at a time?
    Currently, if you have a hit rate of 90% or more you get all three sniper achievements at a time once the game ends. This way you can play one game with precise shots and your are done with all sniper achievements.
    Suggestion: Sniper achievements could be rewarded one by one, i.e. in one game you can get one achievement (the lowest), only.

    Level 25 twice?!
    Currently, there are two level 25: There is level 25 “Boss” ollowed by level 25 “normal”. This is a bit confusing.
    Suggestion: From my point of viewer boss levels should mark the end of a larger unit. The first unit is levels 1-24 and level 25 should be the boss level. After that the levels 26 with new enemies should follow. (IIRC there had been some discussion about the levels before but I’m too slack to search this forum).

    Thank you for beta 28. Beta 27 and its free equipment was a bit irritating for me.

    Some thoughts on the laser:

    With laser the game is really much simpler. But, if I understood right, once you die you loose everything (=greatest loss). And I do die during playing the first 50 levels -even with laser. A new laser could be bought for just 1000 bucks which is not much compared to the other stuff. So you can gather money (using the known technique) and when buying things in the store you always keep a bit of money for powering up the player ship and even buy a laser, again. This worked out for me several times.
    Suggestion:
    The laser could be more expensive (e.g. 2500 bucks or even 5000 bucks). This way its hard to get a laser and the laser remains something special – from the bonus side and from the money side.

    Yesterday I returned from holidays. Zeeland (Holland) is really a nice place to be and my family and I had a good time.

    Thank you for the updates, Christopher. Making the secrets secret is a good idea. I haven’t read the secrets because my intention was to find them out myself. But after playing quite a bit I haven’t found out about the secrets so I would like to have a look at them to understand them better and perhaps even give feedback. Could you perhaps provide a link to the “secret” information? (Note: People don’t miss things until they’re taken from them.) 😉

    No problem. I sort of expected that technically this might not be possible. I guess VB drives the Vectrex to its limits, already.

    Before travelling to Holland I’ve tried out beta 27 a bit. I didn’t take the sheet with notes with me but below please find the issues I remember.

    Year of copyright
    Currently, when starting Vectorblade it says (c) 2018.
    Suggestion: (c) 2019

    Shop sound <> shot sound
    Currently, in the shop when selecting a different item, a short sound is played. The sound ressembles very much the sound when you shot (shop sound = shot sound).
    Suggestion: During the game you hear the shot sound very often. It would be good if in the shop one heard a different sound.

    Inner animation when attacking
    Currently, enemies have some inner animation when displayed at the top. When flying and attacking, the enemies have no inner animation.
    Suggestion: Add a minor inner animation to attacking enemies. This will make enemies and game look even more lifely.

    For getting money I’d prefer a sound effect as you are getting money really often.

    Thanks for beta 27, Christopher. I’ll be on holidaysfor two weeks in Zealand (Netherlands) and most likely my Vectrex console will stay at home. After holidays I’ll check out the current beta.

    Perhaps I should lower the achievement for money. The lowest (easiest) is $5000…

    Once you know how to get the money its not that hard anymore. I had more than $5000 and got the lowest money achievement. With the money I bought several lives and got also the live dropper achievement; so two achievements at a time. Dropping the lowest money achievement to something like $3000 might make sense but I don’t have the overall feeling for good values and the overal “game physics”, yet.

    Now I’ll look at some more stuff recently reported.

    What – if you die during a boss fight – the boss pushes you an random (1-5) levels back in your progress?That way you get a chance to replanish your “goods” and you ARE punished.

    Hmm, I’m not sure whether setting-back some levels really helps much. And I’m not sure whether the game design should be helpful to the player at all.

    If you happened to catch a single shot in one of the four (or five?) levels before the boss fight you are in big trouble: Best power-up you can get is a “two shot” and there is no shop before the boss fight. So you might have lots of money but this money doesn’t help you at all. So once you picked up a single shot you see yourself fading away step-by-step and/or you have really big trouble in the boss fight.
    Perhaps adding a shop right before the boss fight might solve this problem. But again: I’m not sure if Vectorblade is supposed to be helpful at all. (BTW: Fighting level 25 boss with a single shot is possible but it depends ony your bullet and shot rate. And your stamina.)

    Yesterday and today, I played Vectorblade more. Found out how to dig for money and encountered the Moneysucker for the first time. In one game I had a final score of 580.000 and Admiral rank. But Level 75, only, this boss gives me some headache.

    Thank you for unlocking. Yes, it does work. But the admin of the forum doesn’t look into the folder “Solved” too often. 😉 Perhaps the appropriate topic could be moved back?

    Q: Sometimes I get a scoopee at the end of a level and in the very next level this scoopee is gone, again  (e.g. Level 4 to Level 5). Is there a reason why?

    With beta 24 the AtariVox worked like a charm.

    First off, I don’t like extra gadgets enhancing the Vectrex too much. For voice output I use two old Sony PC loudspeaker which have a buzz which is much worse than any Vectrex buzz (loudness potentiometer has a problem).

    I played three games with the voice output. Here are my current thoughs:

    o For some reason I don’t know I expected a female voice. In Super Hexagon (> Link) this is pretty cool and works very well.
    o Voice is output for power-ups (“Shield”, “Money”, …). Somehow I expected voice output for announcing the levels.

    The voice output does add to the game. The voice is understandable. Some words like “Scoop” need some refinement. By adding the voice output Vectorblade gets even closer to the original Warblade. But Warblade is a game of sound and graphic effects. I’m not sure whether Vectorblade wants to step into these shoes.

    All in all it’s hard to say whether voice output via VecVox is worth the effort and the bytes in the game. Perhaps I’d be more enthousiatic if there was level announcment with a female voice. 😉

    Nah, 26 doesn’t have VOX – only the beta24 has compiled it “in”…
